Graham Starsage, a scientific SCUBA diver for the Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre in Gibsons, is one of the few people in the world who dives around glass sponges – though not yet at the sites just identified.

The reefs are “entire underwater cities that are teaming with life,” he said.

“It’s breathtaking, they’re so beautiful. There’s lobsters, juvenile lobsters, candy striped shrimp, spot prawns… There’s a whole plethora of rockfish that live down there.”

[Rockfish]

I assume they are Squat Lobsters which are not very big and related to crabs, especially the hermit crab. although they do look somewhat like a very small flat lobster. They get caught in prawn traps and I have found them in Halibut bellies.

I've eaten squat lobsters - not much to eat. Less than eating a squirrel, even...
