Not sure if this has been posted before.... Anyways, here it is.

A Victoria seafood company is facing six charges under the Fisheries Act.

F.A.S. Seafood Producers Ltd., which calls itself the leading provider of fine-quality seafood on the West Coast, is charged with two counts of fishing in an area not authorized by its 2012-2013 halibut licence.

The company is also charged with contravening the conditions of its commercial fishing licence by having long-line fishing gear set while the vessel was in port and failing to display validation tabs as required.

F.A.S. is also charged with two counts of unlawfully possessing fish caught in contravention of the Fisheries Act.

The offences are alleged to have occurred on March 18 and 20, 2012, in Pedder Bay and Victoria.

At a first appearance Wednesday in Victoria provincial court, federal prosecutor Larry Reynolds asked for the case to be adjourned until June 11.

F.A.S. Seafood Producers is headed by Victoria fisherman Bob Fraumeni. He is out of town and could not be reached for comment.

The company has been operating in Victoria since 1977 and has retail stores in Victoria and Vancouver.
