Gotcha. If that's the case you'll need a hydraulic jack plate or even one of these:

Porta Bracket | Porta Products

Otherwise you've gotta get a longer shaft on that motor.

Had similar issues and went with the top end cable steer from sea star ( anti- vibe for bigger motors) i know hydraulic is the best but did fine with this option and way cheaper
