Sayward Fishing Derby "Tour de Rock" - 2nd Annual

Hello Fishermen,

Our small town, 45 mins north of Campbell River is having our 2nd Annual "Tour de Rock" Fishing Derby. ALL proceeds from the fishing derby go directly to Cops For Cancer, Camp Goodtimes. This is a camp for kids who are battling cancer.

Last year was our first Derby and it was a tremendous success. We had 124 fishermen entered, 301 fish caught (mostly beautiful sockeye), and $1000's of dollars of prizes were given out. The event raised $7,000 for Camp Goodtimes!!!

We have received tremendous compliments with our first event and are hoping that this becomes bigger and bigger each year!

The date is now set!!!!

Our committee has now met and have scheduled this year's "Tour de Rock" Fishing derby in Sayward for Saturday, August 27th, 2011. Again, entry fees will be $25.00 per rod ($20.00 if you register by July 1st).
This year we will be hosting a golfing tournament the following day (if interested) on August 28th. It will also be $55.00 per golfer ($50.00 if you register before July 1).

One Month Away!!

Hello Fishermen

We are one month away from this year's "Tour de Rock" Fishing Derby in Sayward, scheduled for Saturday, August 27th. We hope that you are planning to come up and enjoy a great weekend of fishing. There will be beer gardens, kids derby off the dock, a golf tournament the following day (if you are interested), great memories and most importantly, all proceeds will be going towards Cops For Cancer, Tour de Rock!!! Bring your family, friends, come camping or stay at one of our local accommodations. Lots of great prizes!!!

Thanks for posting the dates, only heard about it last year when it was too late to go.
The member I know did not pass the word along, with the idea it was for RC members only?
I know camping is pretty limited in the town, is there any other options for the derby, fields etc that may be opened up?

Yes accomodations are limited but there is a lot of camping right in Sayward (next to the beer gardens). You will have no problems getting a spot. There is also camping out at the marina. Check out our "LINKS" on our website for more details on accomodations at www.saywardfishingderby.webs.com
By the way, this derby is open to everyone both serious and not so serious fishermen. We'll see you out here at the end of August!!!

Hello Fishermen. Well only 2 1/2 weeks left for the derby and have the fish started coming into Sayward. Several large Chinook being caught here and tonnes of Pinks. Some nice Hali and Lings too. Don't forget to register Friday night, August 26 between 6 - 9 p.m. at the beer gardens. Guest appearance this year is Daisy, a young girl from Sooke who has battling cancer her whole life. We can't wait to meet this brave young girl. See you in Sayward at the end of August!!!

So if you are thinking of coming to our derby, check this out: Since beginning of August, many chinooks have been coming in. Tonnes of Pinks and some Sockeyes too. Don't have a boat, don't worry - a 23 and a 19 lb Spring Salmon were just caught off the pier on August 11th!!! Bring the kids as their is a kids derby from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Hope to see you in two weeks.

1 week left to the fishing derby! Come up to Sayward and enjoy some great fishing. Over $2000.00 in prizes to be won. Every fish caught gets entered into the derby.

Friday, August 26th - 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Come to the beer gardens in downtown Sayward to register ($25 per rod)

Saturday, August 27th - Dawn until 4 p.m. All fish must be at the weigh scales by 4:00 p.m. to be entered for prizes.
- 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Kids derby off the Future's Dock. (Free of charge, all kids will get a prize)
- Beer Gardens from 12 noon until 10 p.m.

Sunday, August 28th - 10:00 a.m. - Golf Tournament begins ($55.00 per person includes a lunch and prizes).
- Beer Gardens from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m.
