Random Orbital Polishers

Go look at what boatyards that polish yachts use.....Makita all day. you wont see those guys polishing a 50 ft yacht with anything else.

Took a bit to get organized but final got it sorted this weekend. For anyone interested:

- went with the porter cable dual action for a couple reasons s
- for a beginner much less risk of damage from what I read. The rotary can burn the gel coat easy if you don’t know what you are doing. I didn’t have much to polish off but definitely would want a rotary for a true cut polish/compound. The dual action worked great for waxing and light polish.
- paired it with a chemical guys 5” backing plate and the black foam lake country polishing pads.
- used the 3M perfect-it polish/wax one step.

happy with how it turned out.

KMS Tools had a cheapo 7 Inch Rotary King Canada brand just to get you going for a $100 bucks. Comes with a few pads if anyone is looking for a budget option

hey guys I order the 3m wool compounding pad. what finishing or polishing pad are you using?

Presta green wool or foam polishing pads works well for finish polishing / glazing. The blue pads are even less aggressive, but I believe they are meant for automotive paint. Green is what I always use as a last step on the boat.
