Need a good solvent

Fuelling the boat today and a little fuel splashed back on to the swim grid.Maybe a half a cup. I looked down and the soles of my runners had melted from the gas. This left black marks all over the swim deck. wiped it up as best I could but decided to finish cleaning it when I got back from fishing. Fished 4 hours and moored the boat. Took some gas on a rag to clean up the black mess. The gas would not touch it. Any ideas short of painting the swim grid?

Try Goo Be Gone-will take labels of bottles and many other things. Going to have to be solvent based whatever you use. Acetone might also do it but be sure to be standing by with water and a rag if it starts lifting paint on the grid.

All Goo Be Gone is, is lighter fluid. Cheaper. Ronson's
