Local seafood retailer buying/selling illegally caught/purchased crab and prawns

This news is from last year but it goes to show there are local seafood retailers actively buying illegally harvested and illegally purchased Dungeness Crab and Spot Prawns.

If one business is doing it I'm sure there are many more doing it too. Probably explains where some of our crab and prawns are going that are stolen from our gear. Dirt bags.

The public are buying illegal crab and halibut in the Victoria/Sooke area as well. Kind of understand it when locals can't afford the retail prices but it makes me fearious that I hear someone is even selling female crabs. I don't think this is a big an issue as the over-harvesting by the non-quota commercial fleet but both need to be dealt with,

Yes wow call it in man every bit of this kind of thing impacts the stocks negatively. Female crabs!? Wow that's blatantly horrible!!

If I knew who was selling them I would. I made my views pretty clear to the people who purchase the halibut but the crab buyer got an earful.
