Interesting boating scene at Jordan River today. Pretty decent surf, 6-8 foot faces, though setty and inconsistent. We are waiting out in the rivermouth, a boat motors slowly in, going into the river. There's no set, so they motor in slowly, I guess to be careful of the shallow bar. But too slow, a small wave overtakes them, they start surfing it towards shore, then broach, with the wave turning them broadside and nearly capsizing. They made it in though. Then I guess dropped someone off, the guy came back out slowly through the lineup, then gunned it, off towards Victoria.
They were lucky they timed it well, if a real set had come in, they'd have been in serious trouble.
Campion 682 (nice boat by the way), named Sugarloafing...if it's anyone on the board, curious what was going on, to cross the bar on a surf day.
