I went commercial Halibut fishing once - 5K plus pounds lot's over 200. The deck was about 5 ft above the water. Anything over 100 was gaffed. Can't see much of a survival rate on this one.

lift a bit, cut leader with a knife attached to a pole, apply to government for a box of replacement hooks.

After watching these guys i don't think it would be a huge issue.
