how hatcheries have keep stocks of spring run chinook and steelhead going on the Columbia.

Where is there any good news in that article? No mention of hatchery success, just mentions possible hatchery use as part of a too late, Hail Mary package of efforts and measures to save a long list of spring Chinook and steelhead that are rapidly accelerating towards extinction level (and that the Nez Pierce bands research shows many are already there).

Not good at all, but should/could serve as a precaution for us north of the border to stop dragging our heels already and develop comprehensive, long-term conservation and recovery strategies for our stocks of concern ... and implement them! (I wont be holding my breath).

Cheers!
