Interesting. Looks like the hooking injury related ability to acquire prey appears to be strongly linked to the specific species of fish and how they feed. The researcher's test subjects rely on suctioning to feed, so some of the research findings and hypothesis might not apply to other fish species as directly.

I was thinking the same thing, searun. Plankton feeders and the like - although they don't usually take a hook - would likely be hardest hit by lack of suction.
