Hoping no one gets an opportunity to fish for these. When I see what goes on in the rivers around the Lower Mainland and in the valley...the whole fishery should be slammed shut and banned. Natives included.
We all know D.F.O. will allow a native fishery, people will buy the fish for $10.00 each . Ocean fishermen who spend thousands on boats, gear etc. won't get a crack at them. The Fraser coho are toast the sockeye are next. And let the bottom bouncing continue and soon the springs will be in trouble. But of course we can fish the pinks every second year!

Yep. I hear ya. Sad isn't it? Then you listen to the guys on a popular freshwater website and listen to them talk about feeding their families, it's a treat, we pay gas, for bouncing betties, blah blah blah.
I'm another one who won't miss the Sockeye fishery on the Fraser. The Sockeye bring out the worst abusers on the river. The Salmon will be much better off in four years for not allowing this fishery. The Sockeye should never have been opened to the sporties on the Fraser in the first place. Close it permanently, before the tactics it promotes becomes an acceptable practice on other rivers and species.
