Maybe you could show everyone how to get an accurate count on all of the fish in the North Pacific months before they hit the spawning beds.

While I am willing to accept a certain amount of error in count predictions, a five million discrepancy is ridiculous. Either the 'model' is broken, inadequate, or there are other factors such as competence levels or politics affecting the generation of reasonably reliant numbers. I agree that this needs to be looked at and a determination made as to why the forecasts are so consistently significantly off. If the methodology can be fixed, we all will benefit.

It was a great year, everyone got a piece of the pie, and escapement targets were exceded by a large margain. Don't you armchair critics have something better to do, like go fishing??

BB - a gentle reminder of consequences when estimates are significantly off - Stamp/Somass Spring return one year ago. Commercial and other fishing allowed based on estimated return which did not show up anywhere near the forecast numbers creating a near disastrous situation. This is why wild inaccuracies concern many of us.
