Clearance of Prop Guard

Hey guys,

Happened across this DIY Prop guard that seems like a easy, cost effective solution. From scratch, I bought all the pieces listed for $50 at home depot.

Upon running the calculations taking into account the large T9.9 prop size (11.75" diameter), the distance between the prop and the guard will be less than .5inches. This seems like it's too close?

you now will have a kort nozzle, it will help with prop velocity

I did the same thing and bent it around my turkey fryer pot. I probably have 1/2" clearance in some spots and I haven't had any issues. After spending the time trying to get a perfect curve around the pot without the pot bending, in hindsight I would have just gone to Value Village and found a pot with the correct diameter and chopped it up instead of bending flat bar.

Thanks for making me confirm yet gain I made the right choice to not sell these anymore this year. BTW the ones I used to make were 13 inch diameter for high thrust. You want a good amount of clearance.
