Hey
I was hopping to get some up to date reports on the Campbell area. I'm planning my first trip out since October if the weather holds.
Any info would be great ie Where, What to use, and When. I'm seeing lots of boats out there so I hope some of you are having luck.
Thanks :)

Saltwater Fishing Report

Campbell River area fishing report for week ending March 8, 2008.

Cape Mudge: Moderate numbers of feeder Chinook at the lighthouse this week. The herring spawn is well underway and some Chinook have been migrating south to take advantage of the feeding opportunity.

The Hump: Feeder Chinook are moving southwards to the Denman Island area and also following along the beaches from Campbell River to Baynes Sound. Herring spawn near the Kelp beds along the shore, so fishing close to the kelp can be a good tactic during early spring.

Shelter / Willow Point: March is bucktail month at Shelter Point. Anglers with local knowledge dating back to the 60's will tell you to fish bucktails right on the surface in March.

Excellent prawning again this week. With a little knowledge, a good catch of prawns is relatively easy to acheive.

Courtenay Report: Feeder Chinook are available along the shoreline from Salmon Point southwards to Cape Lazo.

Lake fishing is coming on strong as it usually does at this time of year. Most inflowing creeks have water in them by now, making the spots they flow into lakes one of the better places to fish.
