Buy Made In Canada

I recieved this in an email today and just thought I would share with my fellow fishers. Most have probly read something similar.

This is worth reading and considering.....

A physics teacher in high school once told the students:
That while one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn't
Slow a train very much, a billion of them would.
With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously Written by a patriotic Canadian:

Shopping in Lowe's the other day for some reason and just for the fun of it I was looking at the garden hose attachments. They were all made in China . The next day I was in Home Hardware and just for the fun of it I checked the hose attachments there. They were made in Canada !

Start looking...

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else - even their job.

A quote from a consumer: “My grandson likes Hershey's candy. I noticed, though, that it is marked made in Mexico now, instead of Smiths Falls , Ontario . I do not buy it any more”.

My favorite toothpaste, Colgate, is made in Mexico now. I have switched to Crest.

You have to read the labels on everything.

This past weekend I was at Wal-Mart. I needed 60W light bulbs. I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off-brand labelled, "Everyday Value". I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats - they were the same except for the price. The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in – get ready for this - Canada at a company in Ontario .

Their Equate Products are also made in Canada, and are very good.

Just to add my own experience on buying Made in Canada , I was looking for canned mushrooms that were made in Canada and could never find any, so I would buy fresh. But recently I found Ravine mushrooms - made in Canada with a little red maple leaf on the can. A little more money but when I opened the can I looked at mushrooms that look like real mushrooms, not a mushroom that looks like it was cleaned in bleach.

Another product I no longer buy is Del Monte or Dole canned fruit. Del Monte is packaged in Taiwan and Dole is now a product of China .

Why should we pay for their fruit when our growers are left with fruit rotting on the trees. E.D. Smith is still made in Canada... buy theirs, at least you will know what is in it and have some quality control.

By the way, all pickles with the Presidents Choice label and the No Name yellow label [Superstore] are made in India . Think about it, water from the Ganges is used... yes THAT Ganges , the one that the people use as a toilet.

So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here.

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made In Canada. The job you save may be your own or your neighbour's'! (Your children & grandchildren, also.)

If you accept this challenge, pass it on to others in your address book so we can all start buying Canadian, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies!

(We should have awakened two decades ago.)

Let's get with the program. Help our fellow Canadians keep their jobs and create more jobs here in Canada .

If President Obama insists on a 'Made in America ' Policy, which is commendable of him, to support American workers, we should do likewise.

BUY CANADIAN! Read the labels. Support Canadian jobs.

too little too late. Canada began this road 30 years ago and I don't believe that we can reverse the tsunami.

We can do anything, by saying we cant is like quiting! Just think one day open net fish farms will be gone, not today or tomorrow but in the near future.

I boycott all chinese products I can. Ive been in the market for a new frying and and knife, good luck. im holding out. I found a nice celphadon 'german steel' knife made in china. 'swiss' frying pan, made in china. That 'famers' market by duncan there. lots of produce with no tags, start asking. lots **** in from china. carrots, peas, f that.

We sent all our children to school to get degrees in business and this is what they are taught to do. It is called "Economics"

It's really all about greed. We were brainwashed 30 years ago (and still) that outsourcing everything is the 'efficient' way to do things. Unfortunately everyone forgot that the effect would be wiping out the middle class. Canada is quickly becoming a "have" and "have not" country where the rich and socially priviliged siphon off the cream and everyone else eats the scraps.

I agree 100% and the harper government is taking it to the extreme.

It has nothing to do with "economics" or government policy.

It is about greed ,plain and simple.

Obama can say whatever he wants, just to garner votes with the working class. But he doesn't make corporate decisions,he is just a puppet to pull the strings for whatever they decide.

Economically you could produce lots of goods in North America........but because the labor is cheaper overseas, you won't make as much money.

You could make ,say for example, 30 million dollars annually for a product made here. But that isn't good enough.
Although you still made a good profit, the thought of making 40 million instead of 30 will send operations to China or elsewhere.
A 3 million dollar yacht is better than a 2 million dollar yacht.

It doesn't matter very much what track record the country has in the way of government or human rights.

The dollar trumps morals and ethics. Money is power and leverage.

Manufacturers and corporations have no "loyalty" to the middle class or North Americans.
Their loyalty is to the dollar.
They don't care where it's made as long as it produces tons of money for them.

There is a line from a Seagal movie:- "How much is enough?".......(profit).

The answer is :- There's no such thing as "enough" . There is only "exceeding last year's profit margin"

How clever that packaging rules are constructed to be so deceptive. You think you are buying Canadian when in fact you are not in many cases.
