Hey everyone,
Me and my cousin from the mainland are planning a bass fishing day tomorow at elk/kemp lake. We have heard great things about these lakes and big bass!
Any tips for us, trying to land a few lunkers?
Thanks for the help everyone!
PS: Were strictly catch and release!

I live very close to kemp lake and shes a blowin hard at the moment.
Good Luck.

Thanks, It was windy today, We were getting completly stumped, Untill we wondered over a couple smallmouth's nests. We could sight fish for them sitting on there nests. It took alot to make them bite, But we nailed a few. Then the strangest thing started to happen!
All of a suden there was a HUGE smallmouth taking runs at my electric motor!
It would come right up to the motor, watch it for a big, swim away, then come flying into back and smash into the motor!
It was hitting it so hard, it was starting to move it off the transom!
Has anbody had this happen to them?
Very strange.

Now is the spawning time for smallmouths and they are very aggressive and teritorial in protecting their nests. They probably think your motor is some nasty fish hiding out at the back of your boat trying to muscle in on their area.

Long live wild salmon!!!

Tempting though it is , not a good idea to pluck these smallies off the nests. Even in the short few minutes it takes to reel that fish in and release it, other species can clean a nest of it's eggs.
