If I was premier of bc fisheries would become provincial. Harper doesn't want anything to do with it anyways it probably wouldn't take much to pry it away from him.

Chris is correct. I don’t see this happening anytime soon as the last thing the Harper Conservatives wants is for DFO to become accountable to the citizens of BC. It is our Ox that is being gored by their destructive fishery, energy and environmental policy so politically we are very likely to go against what they want if it becomes provincial jurisdiction.

I also think this is the reason we will not see a West Coast Fishery Minister from this government. Much better to have the Minister from the East Coast who does not have to take the heat for the destruction they are doing to our Pacific Salmon/Fisheries and buys into the east coast tradition of pandering only to commercial fishery interests.
