The WSC was one of 15 groups that endorsed the letter recommending listing of Interior Fraser Steelhead (the stock grouping dominated by what remains of the Thompson stock) sent to the two Canadian federal ministers who will ultimately decide the question to list or not to list under Canada’s Species At Risk Act? A t-shirt and bumper sticker campaign might be a good way to generate awareness and momentum in support of the only decision that has any prospect of preventing these fish from falling off the edge of the extinction precipice they are teetering on.
The fact that a major wild steelhead conservation organization from outside Canada recognizes just how special these fish have been throughout the history of steelhead recreational fisheries in North America speaks volumes. All organizations and individuals who support saving these magnificent, one of a kind steelhead are encouraged to indicate their support for shirts and stickers here, along with whatever contact information is needed for organizers to pursue this initiative.y
