8-9.9 hp outboard recommendations

im looking into buying a new 8-9.9hp outboard. what would you recommend based on reliability, service centers parts available and price

There's a lot of Merc and OMC dealers around, fewer for Yamaha, even less for Suzuki and Honda. Could well come down to what's convenient for your location. I have a Merc 4 stroke 9.9, good reliable engine but bulky and heavy. The Yamahas seem to have a more compact design.

I am in the same boat as your self trying to decide what to buy. You can do a search on here and try and decide from there, I still can`t, I checked out the Honda`s, Merc, and now Yamaha. The Honda is about seven hundred more than the Merc, I have not got a price on the Yamaha yet. I was leaning towards the Merc so I will be watching this post with interest.

I'd go with a Yammy or a Honda, tried and true.

I have a 2011 Suzuki 9.9 and love it. No issues but time will tell.
