2017 OFFISHALL Vancouver-Howe Sound-Sechelt Reports Thread

i dont understand, i thought depthpower 1106 is rated for up to 20 lbs. then the previous posts said different. when i go to the website it says rated to 20lbs/185ft/min. what up?

I'd say depends on when and where you fish, for me it definitely helped us be more effective when stacking rods and fishing out in the straight or Gabriola side when the tide starts moving...200'+ is a long way down
 
Im heading out tomorrow, FINALLY! Has anyone been out lately? Tunstall or HITW?
 
Trolled HITW and north end of Bowen today, lots of bait at HITW, birds diving, no bites..prawning seemed slow too..it was so flat it was like cultas lake..
 
Anyone out today or going tomorrow? Looks like it'll be flat calm in the sounds tomorrow. I'll give it a go early till about 1

Was out by Cowen today from 12-4. One shaker. Hooked up to a sunken yellow buoy and a 10lb round cannon with my down rigger, that was about the most excitement we had. Our only prawn trap came up with 20 or so prawns. Not a very productive day. Conditions were like **** on a plate though. And the boats running great!
 
Fished w van shoreline and freighters. 2 unders both lost to seals. Seal was generous to leave the jaw on the first and gill plate on the second.
limit of crabs for tonight but no salmon. Wind started blowing pretty good around noon so decided not to go to the sound
 
Fished Howe Sound...Saw 1 fish boated and heard of another decent fish... Clearly there is no remaining place to fish all by yourself anymore... lol
 
Caught a lot of fresh air but nothing else to keep this morning. Fished the Cap area for 1 1/2 hours on the flood this a.m. and had one nice fish on that took a couple runs before spitting the hook. Then trolled to the QB marker and out to the freighters and released a couple undersized and didn't see a lot of bait. Called it a day and went back to the dock to tune up the downriggers and re-installed a rod holder. Had the Scotty downrigger boom mount for a rod holder break last Monday and Scotty had the replacement part to my office a couple days later. Feels like a broken record comment but it needs to be said ... awesome warranty support and customer service.
 
I'm planning on heading on Wednesday to drop the traps and hit HITW, or should I just hit the freighters?
 
Nowhere to fish by yourself because everyone posts exactly where it's going off on a public forum.......
 
Nice haul Brando. We put a little time in off the qb today as we didn't get out until 1030 or 11. It wasnt to nice by the time we got out, windy wet and strong current. No bites for us. Only one crab. Poor results for a pretty poor effort lol. Was good to run the boat. Kicker impeller failed right away which was a downer.

Yup. How you fish it. How 12 boats fish a 1/2 mile area with no or little bait is how it was fished yesterday. :)

No worries though...they're only fish and our downriggers are jagging every last one out of there.
