72 nautical miles according to Navionics chart viewer. More if you go thru Active Pass, which I would.

Bit if a rodeo out there this morning. Kept 2 springs. Released a few shakers and coho. Never really saw a bite come on.

YES it was hey bud saw you land that one fish I was kinda surprised you stayed as long as you did , must have been rocking in that lil boat

What a washing machine out there today for the opening day of Chinook retention. Started at Possession and picked up a Chinook about 9-10 pounds on the first pass. Stayed for a couple more loops but didn't like the slop and weed so figured I would run west while I could and fish in the lee of the wind at Otter. First pass there we had to release one that measured 87-88cm and looked to be 21-22 pounds. Went back to Possession for an afternoon trip and picked up a 13 pound spring before getting all my lines in the water. Next pass a 80cm 17 pound spring. Just small springs and wild Coho after that and more washing machine seas. One female guests couldn't stick it out to the end so we came back an hour early. Hoping for better water conditions tomorrow.

"had to release one that measured 87-88cm and looked to be 21-22 pounds"
just when I thought dfo had published some easy to understand information, I see this dated Aug. 1
Is 80 cm still the size limit for Sooke Chinook or did it change Aug. 1??

eng.pdf (dfo-mpo.gc.ca)20-chq-
Aug 1 – Dec 31 2 2 Chinook per day
No mention of size limit???

Sooke is 20-5. Need to go to 20-1 (Renfrew) for 2 a day/no size as of Aug 1st.

Double Eagle
Oh i saw ya bouncing not much difference between DE and hourston , When I was up in knight a month ago ran the 17.6 my back hasn't ben the same since LOL
Today we got them again took a bit but nice fish and a 80 on the mark was just over 18 lbs let a bigger go didnt bother measuring as I knew it was too big,
Ap spoon for 2 of them and bait got the other one, also some pinks and a few coho to the mix

Thanks for the clarification
Much the same as last year but with a few more full closures off shore
Clear as mud!!
Most would interpret no Chinook size limit in all area's of 20
The notice says Area 20 which includes Renfrew.
"Area 20 – Port Renfrew, Sooke"
No mention of Area's 20-1, 20-2, 20-3, 20-4 or 20-5
[URL max size is 80cm in sooke
