I just bought a Yammy 9.9 4 stroke.. the oil level is almost to the top of the dip stick...the stick doesn't have any markings as in add, full, etc...just a checkered pattern that ends near the top...anyone know what the level Should be ??

Near the top of the checkered area...

Weel thats where it is... the oil in it is kind of a brown color.. almost looks like it has water in it.... is that the color of a synthetic ?? .. I thik the previous owner said that is what he used...

Synthic does look like water, is brown. and is usually lower viscocy(thiner). You need to start to worrying when it looks milky. If you are realy worked you should change the oil and you can sent a sample in through most auto store to have it tested. You probably should change it anyhow never know how long ago he changed it and oil is cheap. Good luck Joe

Yeah.. I think it is synthetic.....vut will change anyway... thanks
