Worth making crab traps outta?

I have access to a ton of these SS sheets at a great price. Holes are mostly 3” and sheets are 2’x4’ and 1/8” thick. I can turn em into crab traps fairly quickly but think there’d be too much drag/weight when pulling them out of the water? Be pretty hard for someone to claim them as theirs cuz they’d be the only ones like them.

Figure out weight per square foot and calculate finished product weight, pretty easy to figure the weight.
1/8" pretty thick but 3" holes would make up for some weight savings. So you don't have to weight them..

If not crab pots that would make wicked bait cages

They’re suprisinlgy soft edges. The sharper edge would be inside. And they’re not sharp enough to cut. At around 30-40 lbs a trap I think they’d be too heavy. But there’s another thread about king crab traps that weigh around 70lbs apiece. Might be suitable for that.

Anybody interested in some sheets? Sell by weight at 75cents a pound. I’m making a trip to van on the 17th of August and will haul them down if anyone wants some.

They make excellent security window covers.
