Any word or thoughts on what kind of management measures will be in place for winter fishing with our new war on science based fishery management?

Sounds possible but with this Federal Government you never know. Well they keep their new politically motivated 50% reduction of the annual limit in our area>

Could also be a new government too - so it's anyone's guess at this point.

If regs stay the same as now, and you can only retain 10 fish, I don’think many will be fishing for 4 pounders anymore. I am going to aim for my 10 in August and September. Maybe save 1 or two for next March if the sidney derby goes ahead.

Yup, could be an unintended consequence, fishing more concentrated when the runs are going through. I’m still curious if the salmon closure shifted more early spring and summer fishery towards halibut. Wouldn’t be surprised to see another surprise announcement around Labour Day if that was the case.
