Hello Fellow fisherman

I fish Elk and Langford Lake form the shore using power eggs and I was wandering are the any other "from shore" methods that will work well for rainbow trout?

My second question is what lures / trolls work well for Elk and Langford Lake. I recently got a canoe but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Please put down any suggestions that you have for fishing these two lakes.

Thank you, I look forward to reading your replies

I'm not real sure on what to use for trolls and lure although I see people using gang trolls with worm on a trailer hook. I have a buddy that used to troll Wee Tads in Elk on a downrigger too. He did well with those.

Do you have a fly rod? If not, maybe pick yourself up a cheap outfit with a medium (type 3) sinking line. Troll around using a leech pattern or wooly bugger. These are almost always successful patterns.

Marabou Leech. (this is one of my favourites)

Wooly bugger:

Robinsons Sporting goods on Broad street has a good supply of flies for local lakes.

Good luck.

Used to fish Langford lake years ago, trolling around the bay where the aerator is we had very good luck with a frog flatfish, green with black spots{smaller size]Out in the lake we used the largest lake troll we could find. On the sunny days we used a 50/50 brass chrome, and on the cloudy days a chrome one,if i remember right it was called a "Mountie patrol"Also a#6 hook with a LARGE worm. But that was years ago.....DAN

Usually when ya get the first cold snap of the year (late nov-dec), then a rain fall the larger trout will cruise the shore line, they are easily picked off with a fly or spinners. The mentioned flies above are great. Other than that the best bet is the power bait.

(.... from shore)
