Trailer Modifications

Just picked up an ez loader Trailer for 2001 2470 Pursuit. Had no idea the mystery of fitting the trailer to the boat was such a hard thing to do or get information on. If anyone has recommendations or information on someone or company proficient at this please let me know. Cheers!

If your trailer is tandem axle, with spring suspension, you likely have two bunks that run the length of at least 1/2 the length of the boat. The bunks probably are laid so that the boards are wide side up. These may or not fit under your lifting strakes and may not be strong enough to support the weight of your boat in this configuration. You may find you need some additional set of bunks to support the weight and help to centre the boat when retrieving. Two per side and spaced to fit under two sets of lifting strakes. This may involve putting the boards on edge. You may also need a set of bunks at the front to assist in centring. . You may still require at least one set of keel rollers to initially support the boat as you load it. To give you an idea of which I speak, have a look at this utube video. the boat is not the same as yours but the principle applies. Once you get past the first part the rest is just "candy":)

Thanks man, know if anyone in the Van area that specializes in fitting boats to trailers?

I know of no company that specialises in fitting boats to trailers. However there are companies in Vancouver that make boat trailers, who should have the expertise. Roadrunner and Highliner, come to mind, Some on here have good things to say about them, hopefully one or more will pipe up. Really any reputable trailer sales outlet should be able to help you. My preference would be a manufacturer.

Considering the brand new off the factory floor boat i bought didnt have the trailer fitted to the boat, this is something you need to do yourself. submerge the trailer in a quiet lake after disconnecting from the vehicle, float the boat on it and adjust the bunks etc until the boat is well supported everywhere. should take you no more than 15-20 mins. if your boat is aluminum fit teflon pads on the bunks. now is a good time since the launches are pretty empty. try alouette lake which has a beach area or pitt lake launch which has a kayak launch area which is undisturbed.
