State seeks salmon board member

OLYMPIA - The state Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking people interested in salmon recovery to serve on a board that oversees the state's Regional Fisheries Enhancement Group program.

The program was created in 1990 by the state Legislature to involve communities, volunteers and landowners in the state's salmon recovery efforts.

The current 14 groups - 11 in western Washington and three in eastern Washington - work to restore salmon and steelhead populations by working with state and federal agencies, tribes, businesses and landowners, according to a department announcement.
One volunteer board position representing commercial fishing is open on the nine-member advisory board.

Letters of interest and resumes are due by Aug. 10 to Dianne Ludwig, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Regional Fisheries Enhancement Group Program, 600 Capitol Way N., Olympia 98501-1091.
