sockeye depth clarification

So if you are running two or three dummies and you post that you got your fish at 50 feet, for example, is that where the fish were on the sounder, where your hootchie was, where your ball was according to the sounder, or what your DR depth indicator says????
A similar question is does anyone put their dummies down and then set the DR to zero for the first rod?

We always go by the DR depth indicator as it provides a standard measurement when compared to many other variables (as you mentioned and more) which are not easy to measure or quantify.

First dummy off the ball @ 000 on the DR. 2nd dummy @6. First rod 016 2nd rod 026. All dummies on 4’ cord. Drop it to 066. In stronger currents I clip the 2nd rod at 031. No tangles no sliding clips if you don’t do crazy turns in big currents. Sit back and watch the show.
Whatever depth you pick, make sure you’re above a school.
