Did up some of the Sockeye bounty with Blackberry canes last week in my little stovetop smoker-couldn't be happier about the results.
A sweet but not overpowering taste with nutty flavours as well you'd never ID the stuff unless you someone told you.
Different from the mild musky Alder I was using and of course the price is right! [8D]
Just walked a few blocks to a local patch/grabbed a few dead canes-for serious smoking a person would want to cut a few big green ones in spring/chunk them up/then dry.
