I will be relocating to greater vancouver next month and was wondering what the smallmouth bass fishing was like around the Burnaby area?
Tips and suggestions welcome...
thx

Sorry crafty - there are no smallmouths in the lower mainland. The closests smallies are Washington State otherwise you are looking at a road trip to the interior(Osoyoos)or Vancouver Island. There are however largemouth opportunities in the lower mainland. No specifically the Burnaby area but there are in Maple Ridge, Mission, Abbotsford. Some of the areas closer to Burnaby require water access.
I hope this does not burst your bubble on moving to the lower mainland..

Thanks for the info Terry :)
I actually live on the island at the moment and am enjoying some bountiful smallmouth fishing (4lber yesterday). I am very interested in doing some largemouth fishing as I learned my bass fishin' craft in Southern california and would love some nice "lunkers".
I'm actually going to be staying in Pitt meadow/Maple ridge area's as well :) What lakes with easy bank access and good "structure" do you suggest? Don't have to give any secrets away though <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hey Crafty - The mainland welcomes you and I am sure the rock will miss ya' except those sore mouthed smallies.
What did you catch that beauty on? Say it is one of my baits and win a prize.*wink*
As far as shore access out in the Pitt Meadows area, there is not much. The sloughs off the Pitt River are limited to boat or canoe.
Your best bet for shore access is Albert Dyke Park or Mill Lake, both are in Abbotsford.
Obviously, the sooner you can use a floatation device the more water you will be able to fish. A keen sense for the obvious is truly a gift.
Good luck with the move,

Terry

Anytime Crafty.

I have contacted the company regarding their products. If you fill out the mailing list information on our site, I can keep you updated on the products. By looking at their products, I believe we carry very similiar colours and styles, except in the spider grubs.
I have two purple 6" Curly Tail Worms. One is June Bug and the other Electric Purple. Take a look at those if they are close I would be happy to send you some samples.
