Hey guys,

I'm looking for some advice on shore power for my build. I don't need anything too fancy. We have 30A at our marina and with that I want to be able to do the following:
  • Keep the batteries charged
  • Power a galvanic isolator
  • Provide power for coffee maker and small microwave
I was considering getting a ProMariner Combi 2500. This unit looks like it will do both AC distribution and charge the battery system.

Galvanic Isolator - http://www.promariner.com/en/22034

I'm a bit tech-tarded when it comes to electrical so I will be getting some assistance when it comes to installation. I was just hoping for some advice by those that know or have installed one in their own boat. Had I had a battery charger on my last boat, it would never have sank.

Thanks,

WW

Couldn't you just add a 50amp Marinco outlet, distribution panel, pigtail from the dock and a long 25' shore power cord? Would be 1/4 of the cost compared to the Promariner.

There is a website called marinehowto.com run by a guy who claims to be a certified marine electrical specialist. Reading some of his posts leads me to believe he knows what he’s talking about, installing a marine battery charging system is one of those topics. Make sure you check out his “Hall of Fail” , examples of what not to do.
