do you have any pics of the reels? I just got a rod for my 7 year old and we where looking at the new style of those reels but a little to much for his budget. This might work out well for him. Is it a one way drag system or knuckle buster style?

These are one way drag knuckle busters. They're for salmon fishing trolling-mooching off a boat and sold for over 10 years.

They won't work for your son. It is a way to save $25-40 off a new reel for everyone else though.

Many people prefer this reel over the current ones with the "Dartanium Drag" because it's light and balances out well on a 9-11 foot rod.
