How to fillet a salmon - demo & class

The P-I will run a feature Wednesday on how to fillet a salmon, with demonstrations by chef Eric Donnelly of The Oceanaire. But -- how's this for great minds thinking alike -- if you can't wait until then, or want a live version, chef Russell Lowell will speak on how to fillet a salmon at 3:30 p.m. today, July 19, at the Kirkland Uncorked celebration. Lowell is the caterer who has cooked for, among other guests, Nelson Mandela, Bill Cosby, Bill and Melinda Gates, and Bill and Hillary Clinton.

At 2 p.m. tomorrow, July 20, he'll do an entire class at Molbak's in Woodinville on how to fillet, season, and grill fresh salmon. (He'll also make and share recipes for "the ultimate summer menu," halibut ceviche with corn chips, microgreens salad, herb vinaigrette, and mojitos).

Cost for the Molbak's "Summer Grilling With Chef Russell Lowell" class is $40. For reservations call 425-398-5151.
