salmon/steelhead on the Thompson

Hi there, I'm new to the interior, originally from the Island. I have to get out on a river somewhere, I'm going crazy. I've heard that salmon and steelhead can be quite good on the Thompson near Spences Bridge. Does anyone have any insight on times of year, locations or techniques? I don't expect you to give up all your secrets, but throw me a bone if you can. Thanks, Steely.
