Big ad in Victoria TC today -- Pacific Salmon Foundation dinner, at UVic, Feb 21st. Tix $85, can buy at Island Outfitters.

Here's a link to last year's event

Looking at their website, I guess this is the organization that gets the funds from the salmon stamps on our licenses. A problem with their ad is they don't say anything about what the event is or who they are -- so really only effective for people who are already knowledgeable and interested. Their website doesn't explain either, other than reporting on last year's event.

Looks to be a dinner catered by UVic and an auction, probably a fun night, and for a good cause.

Please excuse my ignorance, I don't know much about this organization. What does the Salmon Foundation do to help our salmon sport fishery? If I knew more I might support them.

Long live wild salmon!!!

There is also a PSF dinner in Qualicum Beach this Saturday. A local guide is a member and do support them with an auction item. Everyone I talked to last year said it was a great function.

I have been going to the fundraiser here for the last few years. It is a lot of fun for starters. Food is great (included in the ticket cost), 2 bars, 3 tables of silent auctions, raffle prizes and more stuff to win. There are lots of familiar faces from the community, like the guys from Island Outfitters, Gary Cooper and so on. The PSF does these fundraiser dinners all over the province; I think one per month. The PSF then distributes money to where its needed in the fishy community. At one point I think they used to support the Sooke Hatchery. I would encourage anyone who wants to give back to buy a ticket.

Tight Lines!
