If you don't think your future fishing opportunities are being eroded at an unprecedented rate, have a look at this proposal.

The "Rainbow Alley" fishery has been on the blue ribbon recreational fishing map for almost 70 years. Access to it has been almost exclusively from the site that is now being proposed as a private access deal as part of the broader picture of reconciliation and treaty negotiation. The option to offer comment is provided in the announcement. Don't let this one go unchallenged and don't believe for an instant it wouldn't have major implications for lowly residents of this province/country who are losing recreational fishing opportunities at an alarming rate.

By the way, the facilities now proposed for major renovations were constructed for the Fort Babine Band courtesy our tax dollars back in the 1990s. One might reasonably ask why they have been allowed to deteriorate to the extent that major repairs and renovations are now required?

I'll add there is a growing number of access denial situations showing up in Skeena country. Boat launch locations used for decades by respectful Skeena River anglers are being removed from public access regularly. Alternately we pay blood money to the First Nations that figure all they have to do is show up and demand it. Try the Ksipiox/Skeena area for openers. Kitwanga, Ritchie and Coyote Ck, all on the Skeena have been added to the no go territory. An on again off again launch on the Kitsumkalum is also on the list.

How far is this "reconciliation", turn a blind eye approach by our governments going to go before we wake up?
