Please help identify boat

Looking for a cabin cruiser to pod and I found this for sale. Owner says it is a 18 Bayliner 1984. Looks very similar to a 2070 Explorer but the lapstrake looking construction , split windshield and overhanging cabin roof are not the same. Owner (who bought the boat for the motor) from the guy doing the restoration knows very little about it and can't find a HIN. My research has led to it being a Yan Penn from New York. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not familiar with that make but pretty sure Bayliner didn't make lapstrake hulls.
In fact I don't know of any manufacturers still producing them.

It does like like a Penn Yan hull for sure. Definitely not Baylitter. Penn Yans were generally considered well built as long as it has no wood rot it should make for a decent conversion. Penn Yan went bankrupt sometime around 2001. Good luck!

That looks very similar to a bellboy that a neighbour on Sproat Lake used to have in the late 70's /early 80's. I would say that the suggestions above are headed in the right direction.
