Peeling fresh raw prawns

To make this way easier on yourself, spread them out on a cookie sheet, put in deep freeze for only about 15-30 mins, DO NOT FREEZE

Pull them out and start shucking. The cold just loosens the shell off the meat enough to make it go smoothly.

Awesome tip Osama!! I too had given up on shelling raw prawns. I've hauled the boat out of the prawn zone here on the south Island to put it in the salmon zone for the summer, but I'll keep that in mind for next year.

or the opposite, fill a bowl of very hot tap water, dump some prawn tails in for 15-30 seconds, its just enough to loosen the shells to easily chuck. Very quick and easy.

This takes a little longer but I take a pair of small scissors and start at the head end and cut along the back and stop just before the tail. The shell comes off fairly easy but the vein comes out as well and they are butter flyed and ready to do what you want with them:)
