This is important that as many rec. anglers attend as possible as some very important issues to be discussed at this meeting so I though I would post this here as well.

The post season Victoria and Area Sport Fishing Advisory Board committee meeting will be held on Wednesday November 22nd at 7:30 p.m. in the Esquimalt Anglers Clubhouse, 1101 Munro Street, Victoria (at the foot of Lampson Street in Esquimalt) - Mtg open to the public - parking is free

IMPORTANT AGENDA ITEM: Southern Resident Killer Whale (SRKW) Recovery and how it might impact your Chinook fishery. Federal government serious considering immediate actions including fisheries restrictions and time and area closures in the core SRKW habitat.

    All are welcome to attend

Some more info sent to SVIAC members on the upcoming South Island SFAB meeting and why it is important for rec fishers to attend. Some serious issue will be discussed that could greatly impact out rec fisheries. If you care, be there!
The next Victoria and Area Sport Fishing Advisory Board Committee Meeting will be held upstairs at the Esquimalt Anglers Clubhouse on Wednesday November 22nd at 7:30 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public and we encourage anglers to distribute this meeting notice to help generate attendance. The venue is Esquimalt Anglers Clubhouse, 1101 Munro Street, Victoria (at the foot of Lampson Street in Esquimalt) There is no charge to attend and parking is free.

The fall SFAB committee meetings are usually a post season review of the fishing in 2017, an update on various fisheries issues and an opportunity to pass fisheries-related motions that can be included in 2018 fishing plans. Tom Cole (Victoria's designated ACS chair) and I will be attending the South Coast SFAB meeting in early December to report out about our local meeting and bring forward all passed motions.

Important Note: Part of the agenda will be dedicated to implications to our Chinook fishery of the federal government's South Resident Killer Whale recovery action plan. Minster LeBlanc and DFO have suggested that the local Orcas need more Chinook and less boating traffic disturbance; they are considering a range of immediate actions to improve prey availability and reduce noise and disturbance. Those actions could include establishing refugia (no go boat zones) and even time and area closure for Chinook fishing on a coast-wide basis.

I hope you can join us,

This is likely a critical time for all Island angles and we need everyone's support. It's a cliche but snooze you loose.

We are all too depressed. Thank god for the few that are still fighting for us. Honestly, this got to be one of the thanklessest jobs there is.
