New Battery time... Starting and House batteries

Hey guys,

Time has come to put batteries in my 28ft Bayliner.

I was thinking single Group 27 for the Starter battery (Single Chev 350 Stern Drive), and possibly 2 6v batteries wired in series for the house power?? Chartplotter, VHF, Lights, small Fridge (110v/12v) that won't run all the time, stereo and a fishfinder unit...

Originally I was going with single Group 27 for Starter and dual 12V Group 27's for the house but guy at battery place said go with 2, 6v for the house batteries.... they'll last longer he says?

Any other suggestions or options? Just want to get the best bang for my buck without going broke...

Thanks in advance...

The guy at the battery store is correct: 2 deep cycle golf cart batteries in series is a good way to go for the house.
