Needle fish lures

First time seeing these a direct copy of coho killer with different material. Never seen them up here. Very close to idea of sand lance.

Drop @fishin solo a line as I know he bought a bunch.

I follow them online thru social media, the lures look great and they catch fish with them. I think 'fishin solo' said they are pretty darn good quality and paint.

Chuck brought them for winters on my boat and they got every fish of the day vs. Kingfisher spoons in same colors so they do work. Too expensive for me though.

Can anyone who's seen/fished them explain how they differ from coho killers? Not that I need an excuse to buy more tackle ….

Cheers!

They differ considerably from a Coho Killer in shape and action. They are not flimsy like a Coho Killer and have a much superior finish. They are more spendy than a Coho Killer but a much better spoon in my opinion. They are durable and don't bend up like a the CK but still light weight and they produce. If you're curious here's their Facebook page

Great to know, thanks! Love the action on Coho killers but like we all know, they are so light they get bent out of shape too easily. I've also found the finish cracks and flakes off and even rinsing with freshwater religiously and liberal wd40 application they rust a bit wherever the finish has come off. Will have to track some of these down.

Cheers!

The blanks are stamped from titanium from what i have heard so they will never rust.

they are pricey but quality is second to none . I love them, there titanium so lighter and stronger and the paint is crazy good. I bought a bunch and like dan said they catch fish . he has a vid of the different lures on youtube to see the action .as far as finishing goes..... the paint and components are the best ive ever seen....makes any other spoon paint job look like a joke

Coho killers = pop can
King slayer = gold bar
No comparison . I have a few and would get more for sure. Both catch fish no question but for double the price you get 10x the spoon.

They look really nice! Too bad you can't order less than 20 at a time. I'd be reluctant to shell out $300 USD for a 20-pack of untested lures.

On a side note, I'm surprised the legal dept. with gibbs-delta and/or silver horde doesn't have anything to say about this lures coho killer likeness.

Coho killers are not really patentable, so good luck with that. Old design that was copied from 60's so not new invention.

Unfortunately coho Killers were made prior (see pic below) before silver horde.

There all over the place. Sportsman warehouse (US chain) has a complete copy out:

$387 ca plus shipping and likely also add tax and duties on declared value of goods upon crossing the border. Works out to about $20 a piece. VS the AP sand lance with free shipping on orders of the same amount of spoons as that u.s. company. Ap works out to just over $12 a piece and they work like a hot damn.

I'll stick to the Ap, and allure spoons that I already use. The Ap sand lance has caught me more fish than any other type of lure or bait. I think the only way I'd ever put one of those damnfangled new titanium lures in my box is if they were given to me as a gift...

Well SpringVelocity, since I dont belong to either company's legal team, I wont be needing any luck!

Pretty interesting bit of history in those links though regarding lure copycats. I guess you cant really patent a shape. With that said, keep an eye out for the brand new advTHXance Sandlance spoon coming soon to a sporting goods store near you! (kidding of course)

Another option to check out is Left Coast Lures made in Victoria, BC. They are high quality stainless steel lures hand made in relatively small batches. The lures have the ability to be tuned to adjust the action and are made to be very robust! Not in stores (yet)... but available online and locally.

Looks like a well made lure that comes in some great colors, plus you can get a large size that is closer to the real needlefish I have seen. I hate fishing with flashers, so in compared to the total cost of sports fishing the price is fine per lure, but the purchasing options need a little work.
