Best locator fly in my experience is the Royal Coachman in varied sizes, next I have found that either a Doc Sprately or a Muddler minnow in bronze, after that go by the common axiom and match the hatch.

You need at least one or two wooly buggers in there too in olive and black if your going to troll them with sinking line. Egg sucking leaches work pretty good around here too.

Trying to keep it general...sz. 12-16 elk hair caddis, 12-14 royal wulff, 12-16 pheasant tail nymph or prince nymph, sz 14-16 soft hackles in shades of grey, brown and green and orange, sz 14 glo bugs in oranges and reds, 12-16 zug bug, sz 6-10 brooks stone, sz 6-16 stimulator, 12-16 bead head hairs ear, sz 4-10 muddler minnow, and a black sz 6-10 woooly bugger.
That should get you started anyway. Have fun tying!

ive found that tom thumbs and royal coachmans work great on rivers.....the big cutties love em..even the wolly buggers werk....
