6 cylinder "tower of power" , lots of snap on these older 2 stroke motor's
I would get a compression check, and if the cylinders are within
5 lbs , it's likely gonna be ok.
Check the leg oil, if it's milky there some seals that need replacing.

Friend of mine has one. Lots of power and cheap to run.

they are good motors except mine blew a piston last year. the guy at m&p said it was predetation from burning old fuel. great on fuel

You can not slip anything by on this forum. 115 hp mercury is a 4 cylinder.

Be leary. The two plus two definately had its share of problems. Throwing a connecting rod is usualy the result on these motors. Fuel or oil problems usualy the root cause. If a compression test shows 10lbs or more difference between cylinders don't touch it. Also listen for knocking when it is running. Any knock no matter how small stay away. When these powerheads have to come apart a new crankshaft is almost always required. The cranks worth more than the engine, thats why most of them are deceased now. Try to find what kind of oil is being used in it. If it's cheap oil don't buy it. Pull the carb float bowl brass drain screws, if there old gas green on the end's don't buy it.
