Marine GArage sale

This looks interesting: I think folks would bring all sorts of interesting marine stuff. Too bad I'm not on the island. <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Remember, it's called "fishing," not "catching."

That sounds great now I just have to convince my wife to go to Victoria for the day.

If I did that then I would have no money to bye the toys. I think I have her almost convinced that it will be a romantic weekend with a slight detour to the marine garage sale. I also told her we could write it off on our taxes.

Some could while others couldn't. It would depend on the circumstances

Some like it rough...
Others just puke!

I use to play softball with some of your revenue canda agents you can write off quite a bit but you need to be in business. Your tax laws are not much differnet that ours except you just pay more taxes.

I know a little about what to write off I work for the IRS. You are right we do get to write off a little more but for the business you probably get to write off all expenses that directly relate to the business. The only thing they have cut back on down here is the meals we only get 50%.

Not writing off the toys of the trip looking to purchase merchandise to sell on the internet. Even though you can write off the interest on the boat as a second home.

we don`t even get 50% we are only allowed a numbered amount thats very low

But you do have good health care? Taxes are a ***** but have to pay for all the services somehow.

Is this an annual event? Has anybody been to it before? Do lots of guys bring boats out to sell? Just wondering if it is worth my trip down island.

OK guys, canadian rules from a CGA currently biding time in the mist of tax season (with one eye on the marine reports)........any expense incurred in order to earn business income is deductable. Meals and entertainment are restricted to 50%, although food/groceries for fisherman at sea is 100% deductable. Interest on mortgages of principle residences may be deductable in the US (not in Canada) but they may also suffer tax on the sale (depending on time in house and sale price) whereas we pay no tax on the sale of our principle residence.
