Major salmon river dam removal

Great news! It seems the US is getting it in regards to restoring salmon habitat with this and restoring the Sol Duc River.

We need to do the same thing for the Jordan River. We do not need the power from the dam on the Jordan as the power can easily be supplied from other sources. The Jordan River historically had a very large run of several salmon species including chinook. Need to bring this river back to help feed hungry endangered orcas and increase overall chinook numbers as the Fraser River unfortunately gets mis-managed into extinction by DFO.

Also need to get the large log jams on the San Juan cleared away that logging companies left years ago and get this river producing salmon again. Doubtful that DFO would do anything about this kind of work to restore previous salmon producing rivers as they are moribund by BS policies and politics.

Once again it will need to be members of the concerned public hopefully with some good corporate backing to get this work done to benefit wild salmon populations.

Wasn't there also problems with an old mine in the upper part of Jordan River too, WitW?

yes all of there tailings are right beside the river, the trees around that area are a yellow color. The good news is there is a program to correct and remove the problem but seems to be happening at a snails pace. There is not a lot of spawning habitat above the brackish water and the falls , but a little area is better than nothing , every spot counts.

Regarding Jordan River, here's a brief story on the mine collapse that happened there.

Hard to see it as much of a salmon river going forward, IMHO.

Take care.
