The lings made a great comeback after being closed for all those years and now it seems they are being fished more heavily than ever. The pics I see are of large fish that I believe are better left alone to breed , wouldn't it be better to take a smaller better eating fish than a photo op ?

Perhaps fine tuning bag limits to address the potential fishing pressure of the area is a solution? I don't think another slot size to encourage mishandling of fish is a great plan.

It's true Thrasher gets hammered for lings now. Sometimes I think the practice of hooking a kelp greenling or small rockfish and using it for live bait should be banned. You always seem to get the big dinosaurs this way and why bother. I don't think anyone keeps the kelp greenling or small rockfish afterwards and they are tossed back dead or simply killed off in the attempt to catch a big one. Personally I think it would better to let anything 36'' and over go and lower the minimum size to 24'' maybe.
