Lake Cowichan

Kind of surprised by the light colours. Seems a lot of peeps use dark colours. but I have not fished it yet, hoping my brother and I can get out there sometime.
They say they like black and yellow, so I made some Wedding Band type spinner and bead set ups. See anyone using something like that?

I read through all the Historical posts on that lake. Takes some time but you definitely get some good info to use on the lake. I found about 15 different plug suggestions with some multiple suggestions on some of the 15. Some are dark and some are lighter but I do know what your saying. Colour types and patterns is a long convo. I am no where near an expert fisherman and it was luck that plug hit the water. But with a tough bite. That may be exactly why that plug was hit. As I can only speculate.

Hey guys! Was able to get out fishing lake Cowichan yesterday. Had a great day as the sun was shining and it was nice and warm. Unfortunately we had a very late start to the day. But we honestly didn’t really care. As being out on the water and letting the lines soak is far better then well mostly everything lol.

We fished the rock face across from Gordon bay. We tried various things and couldn’t seem to get anything to bite. We spotted quite a few schools of bait fish at 50ft along the rock face so I set the down rigger to 55. I decided to pull out a spoon I just recently bought off of @StormTrooper . It was white with some UV flash tape on it like moon jelly. I paired it with a white hotspot mini flasher and wouldn’t you know it within 3 minutes we had a fish on! I found a nice fat cutty on the end of the line and the hook was right in the top corner of the mouth! That fish just smashed it!! After we got things all sorted from the commotion. We turned around and I reset. Nothing on the back troll but once we turned around and got close to the spot before Bam! Another fish on. So I pulled the rod out of the holder set the hook and gave the rod to my buddy sam he was able to land another nice cutty. Unfortunately we started having problems with our main at that time and it was getting quite choppy. So with the third time in a minute it died. We decided to pack it in. Such a shame as I know we could of picked up some more.

bonus pic of what I found inside the belly lol :D
