Interesting article which seems to clearly calls out AM and her BS misinformation on the PRV court case. This speaks to the issue between activist, the public and how the government struggles to make proper science based decisions while maintaining voter confidence.
This issue of the relationship between NGO's, government and making science based decisions in out current media climate will carry over into all industry's. Mining, oil and gas, sport fishing, the list goes on and on.
Im getting that morton has misrepresented the results of the court case to mislead her believers into thinking that they won and prv infected smolts will not go into the ocean. Then when it doesn't happen she get a big win with her followers because they all believe something else. This follows the narrative of "evil corporations" and "corrupt government" which is a basic staple anti industry individuals. This is a group that thrives on ideology not facts.

For example, in an article that ran on this website earlier this month, a noted environmental activist asserted that (if not appealed) a recent Federal Court decision regarding piscine orthoreovirus (PRV) requires, by law, that, as of June 4, smolts be tested for PRV before being transferred to open-net pens. In fact, what the court actually found is that DFO’s current policies set the threshold for “harm” to wild stocks too high and should be revisited. The court also said that upon revisiting this matter, “it is possible that the Minister will still conclude that it is appropriate to maintain the PRV Policy,” i.e. that it is not necessary to test for PRV.

Hopefully the courts get it right. Ultimately these challenges from both Industry and from Environmentalists end up in litigation. Hopefully the courts sift through the bs and facts win out. Of course the court of public opinion isn’t always based on facts because social media has provided a platform to get your side of every argument out with little or no opposition. That’s enough to sway public support. Again, both sides are very good at getting their message out. Climate Change jumps to mind.
