I wonder what replacing all the netting costs? I'm assuming that's why guys just but new ones here and there? Seems like there's always a stack of commercial ones around somewhere. I was also wondering about the mesh size, I like small shrimp too

I like the big commercial mesh, why not maximize your size, those small prawns i throw back anyway just not worth keeping just get them when they are ready lol lots of time .... buy a separate one for shrimp drop in the harbour lots

re- mesh is 40 -50 bucks per trap. new commy mesh is the way to go.

do not buy used commie traps without remeshing, the loose mesh movement scares the prawns away.

i bought some net twine from PNT and tightened up the mesh by weaving the twine through the mesh around the rings..worked like a charm. A Prawn guy told me that loose mesh makes prawns think it is an octopus and stay away..

That's light to me, we have the ladner traps and those things are way more than 12 lbs.
